Time for Action in Cleveland, Ohio!
March 24, 2018 was another historic day when nearly 20,000 people of all ages gathered in Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio to represent their views on the tragic losses incurred in the February 14th School Shooting in Parkland, Florida. Students from elementary schools through Colleges and Universities, parents, grandparents, families of all types, and many social justice organizations assembled and later marched in cities throughout our country, as our Congressional leaders were called out for stalling, again and again, when asked to approach and adopt meaningful and sensible gun control measures in the United States.
“Shoot a picture, not a person!” was the poster message created by one 12 year old student who participated in her very first public protest. Wherever you were during the “March for Our Lives” gatherings on March 24, 2018, surely you were concerned about the future of our/your children, and grandchildren. Maybe the younger generation will lead us and our Members of Congress to a better and safer place!
Time for GOTV Action in Ohio for April-May 2018!
Fairview Park Democratic Club had planned to feature Senator Sherrod Brown on April 5, 2018, however, due to his scheduling conflict, we have now arranged to have Campaign Representative, Khalid Sarsour, speak about options to support Senator Brown in his upcoming Senate race.
Gubernatorial candidate, Dennis Kucinich, will be represented by Tara Samples, who is his running mate and candidate for Ohio Lt. Governor. She is an Akron City Councilwoman, a dedicated leader in her community, and in the progressive movement at-large, working in service to others.
The League of Women Voters will speak to our Club on Issue 1, which is the May 2018 Fair Elections issue, of great importance to all Voters!
John Ladd will address the group about Issue 9, the Health and Human Services issue on the May 2018 ballot, calling for a re-funding of services already being provided.
A variety of other Candidates will present themselves and their credentials for the upcoming elections. Please plan to attend the meeting on April 5, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Fairview Park City Hall’s Dunson Room, 20777 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126.
